Howard Stern is going to be a judge on “America’s Got Talent” as producers reportedly gamble on the shock jock in an effort to reinvent the show.

The outspoken DJ was brought onto the show for his “controversial and compassionate” nature, which will help breath life into the show’s diminishing excitement. But the producers don’t really know what to expect from Stern.

“AGT” has been NBC’s best summer show for the past six years, but the show has lost some of its spunk over the last few seasons.

Simon Cowell, the creator of the show, and NBC are hoping the ratings of the family-friendly program will boost after fans realize Stern is going to be a judge. It’s their last ditch effort at seeking attention and coverage for the show. Luckily for them, it seems to be working, so far.

Stern was able to rise to fame due to his ability to keep people guessing and producers still don’t know what they’re getting. After giving a young boy the “X” after an audition, he then ran up on stage to comfort the kid.

“It is difficult to look into the eyes of a (kid) and say, ‘I am going to give you the X,’ ” he admitted a few weeks ago.  “But I am not going to sit there and suck up to a 7-year-old either.”

Stern’s right, he shouldn’t.

“I wanted to do this because I really love the show,” he told The Clicker a few weeks ago. “I don’t want to be the guy who comes in here and ruins it.”

Do you think Howard Stern will be a good judge on the show?
