Save A Life – Volunteer
Long Island Crisis Center, the 24 hour-a-day, seven day-a-week suicide prevention and crisis intervention hotline, is currently recruiting volunteers to participate in its upcoming Counselor Assistant Training Program. No experience is necessary and the hours are flexible (around-the-clock) to accommodate the individual needs of volunteers. The free, comprehensive orientation training program takes place over three-hour sessions at the Crisis Center’s office in Bellmore. June’s training will be held on three successive Mondays from 7 to 10 p.m. on June 11, 18 and 25. July’s training will be held on three successive Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 14, 21 and 28. Police Appreciation Run
David Lerner Associates and the Greater Long Island Running Club will host the 21st Annual David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run at the Fieldhouse in Eisenhower Park to benefit the Police Crisis Fund, which supports families of the local law force in emergency situations. The entry fee to participate is $20 in advance; $25 for those who enter on the day of the run; $17 for Greater Long Island Runners Club members and a 50 percent discount is given to students up to and including the high school level. The TBT Players in conjunction with the Temple B’nai Torah (2900 Jerusalem Ave., Wantagh) Capital Campaign Fund will present Rabbi Marci Bellows as Mama Rose in the musical Gypsy. Perri Levine will play legendary Gypsy Rose Lee. Performances begin June 16 for a limited run. Lazy Days Of Summer Picnic
Plans are underway for the Levittown Community Council’s annual Lazy Days of Summer Picnic to be held at the East Village Green on Jerusalem Ave. on July 7. There will be free entertainment, activities and crafts at the event, which is a fun family day for all, paid for by membership fees and local business donations.
