Benefit For Local Firefighter
Kevin O’Toole is a volunteer firefighter with the Bethpage Fire Department. Kevin was critically burned in the line of duty in Prince George’s County, MD, where he also volunteers with the Bladensburg Fire Department. O’Toole was one of several firefighters injured in a blaze at a vacant home in Riverdale, MD. The burns to his legs, ankles, thighs, fingertips, arms, shoulders and abdomen are second and third degree to more than 50 percent of his body. It’s been a grueling rehabilitation, which included 10 skin graft surgeries to his stomach, arms, legs, and hands. Kevin continues his rehabilitation and physical therapy at the Nassau University Medical Center Burn Unit. The family lives in Hicksville. Vacation Bible School
Hicksville United Methodist Church, 130 W. Old Country Rd., Hicksville, invited all children between the ages of 4 years old through fifth grade to get ready to dive into fun at Operation Overboard: Dare To Go Deep with God Vacation Bible School. Thrift Shop
The Pretty New Thrift Shop, 238 Main St., Farmingdale. The shop supports the work of Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc., a multi-service mental health and substance abuse agency located in Hicksville. The Hicksville Gregory Museum seeks volunteers form every age and walk of life. The museum is especially interested in high school and college student volunteers.
