Hicksville celebrity, TLC show star returning for a third season
While skepticism comes with the territory in her line of work, there’s no denying that Hicksville’s Theresa Caputo, star of TLC’s Long Island Medium, can draw a crowd.
“Theresa believes that she has been blessed with an amazing and beautiful gift from God. She is able to communicate and validate that there is more to life than just here in the physical world and that our loved ones are still with us after their departure,” according to Caputo’s Facebook page, which has more than 172,000 fans.
The wife and mother of two has been a practicing psychic medium for 10 years and is certified with the Family-Forever Foundation, an organization devoted to connecting science with the afterlife.
The Hicksville Chamber of Commerce, which is hosting its 10th Annual Street Fair this Sunday at Kennedy Memorial Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., confirmed that Caputo will be in attendance, so who knows what will happen.
Long Island Medium revolves around the life of Caputo and the coexistence of both family and professional life.
“In each episode of Long Island Medium, Theresa’s work/life balance is put to the test as she juggles her readings and her family. Her husband Larry and children Victoria and Larry have learned to live with Theresa’s mediumship, but it is certainly trying on their relationships. They believe that in the Caputo house, spirits are always coming first.
“But for Theresa, there is no ‘turning off’ her gift. Whether she is grocery shopping or getting her nails done, someone from the other side is constantly trying to contact her to pass a message on. Between the spirit world and our world, there is Theresa’s world, where she is simply trying to strike a happy medium between her family life, work like and the afterlife,” according to the TLC website.
TLC announced that season one of Long Island Medium, which is filmed in Hicksville, averaged 1.3 million viewers per episode. The season two premiere drew 2.28 million viewers, according to TV by the Numbers, a website dedicated to analyzing television ratings data. Season three will feature 16 episodes and will air in September.
Fans will have the ability to witness Caputo in action at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Oct. 6.
