The Falcons United soccer team began their 2012-2013 season with preparation, conditioning and their eye on a division championship. The team starts their pre-season training with an intense boot camp at the ilovekickboxing school in Oyster Bay, located at 27 Berry Hill Road.
Sensei Bobby Rekha and coaches Alex Gallego and Larry VanPatten spent five days jump-starting the team’s cardiovascular training. This very unique approach to the team’s preparation involved one half-hour of vigorous exercise followed by another half-hour of kickboxing.
“Sensei Rekha’s training and enthusiasm was exactly what we were looking for,” Coach Gallego remarked. Mr. Gallego regularly attends kickboxing classes with his son and daughter. “After every session, he gave the team a nutritional tip and motivational quote. At the end of the week, the Falcons were able to recite some of the advice that Sensei had given them: Train like an athlete, eat like a nutritionist, sleep like a baby, and win like a champion,” the coach said.
Coach VanPatten feels that any individual or team looking to take their skills to a higher caliber should utilize the training program offered at ilovekickboxing. Most people who attend the classes at the school say that they are easy enough for anyone to participate in, but also challenge one to do their best.
The Falcons and their coaches said they are very grateful for their opportunity to train at the ilovekickboxing school. The Falcons United have taken the first step in becoming both mentally and physically prepared to meet the challenge of their new season.
The Falcons United team members are: Nico VanPatten, Mark Salas, Nick Mattone, Adam Limperis-Kaufman, Eamon Granger, Luke Daniello, Raymond Minewiser, Kyler Rowe, James Mahon, Spencer Weingord, Will Moran, AJ Gallego, Kian Ziari and Liam Bauman.
