The Cantiague Park Senior Men’s Golf League had its 14th tournament on Aug. 31, featuring 35 golfers on a beautiful morning. A record-setting eight golfers scored under 40. There were 36 pars and one birdie made (Sev Knudsen on the par-3 seventh hole). Charlie Hong won low overall score with a brilliant 34. Charlie Hong scored under 40 for the 14th time in a row. Bob Evans is the money board leader with $105 won for the year. The new match play champion is Bob Evans (A), who narrowly defeated a very game runner-up Mike Guerriero (B) by one hole. The third and fourth players played for a consolation prize and Jim Murphy (B) defeated Jim O’Brian (A) flight by one hole.

2nd Low Flight (B) – Don Sterling (27) with tiebreaker (Don staggered the golf world with his second score under 50 this year.)
Leaders in points scored for club champion in Flight A are Charlie Hong with 31 points. Geoff Tripp has 26 and Malle a respectable 23. Leaders in points for Flight B are John Bosco with 20 points, while Kent Schreiber is only two points back with (18) and Lou Neumann is within striking distance with 17 points and Don Rogers has 16.
Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 13 or lower. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 14 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man 55 years or older is eligible for membership.
