Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology (ZP) stayed alive in the postseason with an impressive 13-6 win over Bar-Boy. ZP combined timely hitting and outstanding defense to lift pitcher Brian Tinney to victory.
Tinney helped his own cause keeping a tough lineup off balance and stabbing numerous shots hit his way. The entire infield played well, especially shortstop Russ Graham. The outfield defense was also strong as Bar-Boy hitters scorched several liners that Bino Reverberi, Tom Dittmeier and Vinny Foppiano turned into outs.
Reverberi nailed another runner trying to take an extra base, adding to his unofficial league lead in assists. Marc Fischer led the offense with three hits and four RBIs. ZP’s biggest inning was the fourth. Jerry Mazza started the rally with a single and then John Hernandez, Foppiano, Fischer, Dittmeier, Graham, Tyrone Clark and Anthony Nicolich all followed with hits as ZP scored six runs to take an 8-3 lead.
For the night, Fischer and Hernandez had three hits each. Mazza, Foppiano, Dittmeier, Sean O’Flynn and Richie D’Amico had two hits. ZP now advances to take on number one seed BK Sweeney’s Friday night.
