Letter: Levittown Kiwanis Thanks Community

Recently, dozens of Kiwanians and sponsored youth came together outside of King Kullen in Levittown to collect hundreds of food items to donate those in need this Thanksgiving.

The Kiwanis Club of Levittown does this every year; this year, however, the response was even more incredible than previous years. Because of the generous spirit of Levittown residents, the Kiwanis Club was able to fill over 50 shopping carts of food.

Amazing! The club members later packed into the Vanderberg’s house and formed an assembly-line style operation to sort and box the food that would make Henry Ford proud. In no time at all, the hundreds of food items were arranged neatly into baskets and ready to head out the door and into the community.

The food was donated to St. Bernard’s R.C. food pantry, the Levittown food pantry, and neighboring centers where people could go and “shop” for some Thanksgiving delights.

The entire Kiwanis Club would like to thank the people of Levittown, many of whom had just begun to stock their own pantries again after superstorm Sandy knocked out power, for their overwhelming generosity. It was that generosity that allowed our neighbors to have a hot meal this past Thanksgiving.
