Students at Stewart Manor School in the Elmont School District recently celebrated reading with the Parents as Reading Partners “Launch into Reading” schoolwide kickoff event, “The Brain Show.”
PARP will run until March 22 and feature a variety of activities that encourage reading, including themed clothing days, family game nights and an assortment of other educationally based activities. The school will host local community members acting as mystery readers and Friday D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) Days. The PTA-sponsored program encourages students to read for 20 minutes every night with a designated partner in order to nurture reading at home.
