My name is Michael Scro, and as of this week, I am officially the new editor for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Herald.
All of my 25 years I have lived on Long Island, and I am honored to serve the communities of Plainview and Old Bethpage. As a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School and Hofstra University, I pledge to the residents that I and my colleagues at Anton Community Newspapers will work to bring you truthful, insightful and relevant news.
I began my writing experience out of Hofstra freelancing for various news outlets. I covered a wide range of subjects, including sports, local government, profiles, special features, human interest and business. If nothing else, reporting has taught me to listen to the community, and if I’m going to bring them a story, to do it right.
With the explosion of the Internet and, more recently, mobile phones, news is becoming increasingly local and instantaneous. Residents want to know what is happening in their neighborhood, school district and town, whether it’s something to be celebrated or an issue to be addressed.
