Unrehearsed: A Night of Improv

Book Signing

Christopher M. Collora will be available to sign copies of Long Island: Historic Houses of the South Shore at Costco, 625 Broadhollow Road (Route 110) in Melville on June 15 from noon to 3 p.m. The book explores the South Shore’s famous resident personalities, including Schuyler Parsons, Fred Astaire, Anita Stewart and Robert Pinkerton. The lifestyle of the South Shore is also portrayed, including activities like hunting and fishing as well as the famous beaches that served as tourist attractions.

Poet Laureate Induction

The Nassau County Poet Laureate Society is pleased to announce the induction of Mario Susko as the new Poet Laureate for Nassau County on June 15 at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Road, at 2 p.m. All poetry lovers are welcome.

Island Harvest Benefit Run

Fred K’s Cancer Event

The fourth annual Fred K’s Cancer Event will be held on June 29 at Cantiague Park in Hicksville. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Fee is $10 for all walkers. Irish Night Concert

The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 15 of Nassau County and Massapequa present an evening of Irish entertainment with live traditional Irish music by renowned Irish entertainer Ed Ryan, and featuring champion Irish step-dancers with an additional performance by the Tara Pipes and Drums of Massapequa. Festivities start at 7 p.m. on June 29 at Brady Park on Front Street in the village of Massapequa Park. Homemade Irish soda bread, giftware and refreshments will be available. •Disabled America Veterans (DAV) was founded in 1920, is congressionally chartered and dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. •Perceptual Problems Affecting Reading/Learning. Free meetings about a little-known but common perceptual problem which affects the reading and learning capabilities of children and adults, as featured on 60 Minutes, are now being held at Perceptual Change Associates, 120 Bethpage Rd., Hicksville. •LI Tourette Syndrome Association Support groups for those who have family members or other loved ones with Tourette Syndrome meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of each month at the DeMatteis Center, north side of Northern Blvd., Old Brookville (directly opposite the NY Institute of Technology campus). •The River Flows Coffee House, an evening of fellowship consisting of conversation, board games, music that rocks as well as coffee provided by Starbucks and cake are offered. Presented by The River of Life Church on the second Saturday of each month. A free will offering of $7 per adult is allocated to a “Free Lunch Buffet” and other church ministries. 15 W.
