Donna Summer Tribute Concert

Karen Durrant will perform a free Donna Summer tribute concert at Seamans Neck Park in Seaford on July 25 at 8 p.m. Call 516-292-9000, ext. 382 for information.

Wine Tasting Benefit

Join Last Hope Animal Rescue for a wine tasting on the grounds of the Walt Whitman House on Friday, July 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at 246 Old Whitman Road, West Hills in Huntington. Stew Leonard’s will donate featured wines for the evening, and all proceeds will benefit Last Hope’s dog/cat rescue and rehabilitation efforts. See Paypal at www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org. There will also be a tour of the historic Walt Whitman birthplace. A buffet dinner and dessert will be served. Tickets are $45 per person. Reserve by July 19. Car Show

The Mustang & Shelby Club of Long Island car show will be held July 28 at Levittown Ford, 3195 Hempstead Tpke. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Car registration will be held until noon, $20 entry fee. Free for spectators. Rain date Aug 4. T-shirts, goodie bags to first 100 entrants. Food, raffles and music available. Levittown Ford will donate 100 percent of the food and drink proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and the club will also be making a donation to the WWP. In addition the Ford Merchandise trailer will be on hand.

Beatles Tribute Band: The Mystery Tour, sponsored by Friends of the Wantagh Public Library, will perform on the grounds of the Wantagh Preservation Society, 1700 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh  on Aug. 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Bring a chair. County Salute To Veterans

On Aug. 3 at 6:30 p.m., the County will hold its annual Salute To Veterans at Eisenhower Park, at the Lakeside Theatre.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair, scheduled for Aug. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Farmingdale Armed Forces Reserve Center, 25 Baiting Place Road, in Farmingdale, is committed to making this one-of–a-kind free hiring fair a win-win for employers and veteran/military spouse job seekers. CYO Basketball Registration

The St. Kilian CYO program will be holding registration for their girls and boys Basketball teams for the upcoming 2013-14 season on Aug. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the gym lobby at St. Kilian’s on Cherry Street in Farmingdale. Boys and girls in grades 3-8 are invited to register for participation on a travel basketball team representing St. Kilian Parish. Also looking for volunteer coaches in all age brackets. Any adults who would like to volunteer to coach will need to submit background check paperwork and take the parish mandated VIRTUS training. Payment of $150 is due at time of registration. Sibling discounts are available.

The Greater LI Running Club has teamed up with the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce for the inaugural Discover Hicksville 5-mile run on Aug. 17 at 4 p.m. Course will start and finish at Cantiague Park.
