The Farmingdale U9 travel baseball team won the championship of Farmingdale Baseball League’s 911 Memorial Tournament. The team went 4-0 in pool play with wins over the Seaford Vikings , Wantagh Hawks and two over the East Meadow Mustangs. In the playoff round they met the Plainedge Red Devils and dispatched them with a 10-0 victory.
Then, the following week, in front of a large crowd at Allen Park, they played the first of many 911 tournament championship games over the weekend tournament, against the LSW Astros.
The Devils struck early and often and were never threatened en route to a 10-4 victory. They were led on offense by Gavin Weinstock , who hit a long home run as well as Chris Barisi and Robert Traietta who both had three hits. On the mound Nicholas Napolitano and Sam Cordova both pitched 6 innings in the playoff and championship without giving up an earned run.
