Old OB In Photographs
The Raynham Hall Museum exhibit now through December features rare photographs of Oyster Bay from their collection. The photos are street scenes from 1927, 1958, and 1969 and the show photos are street scenes from 1927, 1958, and 1969 and the show includes photos of what the streetscapes look today. Plein Air At OBHS

Training Center Opens
The grand opening of the Oakcliff Sailing Center’s US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider Training Center is on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. at 1 Bay Avenue. There is a classic race event with regulars and guests following the ribbon cutting.
Rio Night At Oakcliff
The party on Aug. 22, at 2 South Street will celebrate America’s quest for Gold in Rio 2016 with a mix of American and Brazillian food and drinks. Mix with the athletes who are here in Oyster Bay compete for the National Championships, talk to your favorite sailor friend, meet the US Sailing Olympic Committee and chat about all the new developments on the Olympic Pathways or just have a Caipirinha [the national drink of Brazil] and sway to sound of a samba. Tickets are $75 each.

Blood Drive
The Oyster Bay Fire Department No. 1 will hold a blood drive on Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the firehouse. According to the Red Cross, donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old. Donors may not give blood less than 56 days after their last donation, says the Red Cross. For further questions concerning eligibility, please call (800) 688-0900 or check on the Internet.

Cruise Night
The OB-EN Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to Cruise Night, Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. This night in Oyster Bay includes live music arranged for by Chair Austin Azzaretto from his friends in the world of musical entertainment. Live Art Fusion
As part of the Labor Day events in town, LI Picture Frame & Art Gallery at 4 Audrey Ave, Oyster Bay is holding a street event from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Twelve artists will be simultaneously painting to the music of the Ken Talve Trio, Saturday, August 31. The band consists of Ken Talve, guitar; Chris Eisener Jr., bass; and Frank Bellucci, drums. All artists are invited to come and paint live and exhibit that night. Free admission. More information will be announced about the Oyster Bay Street Fair planned for that weekend.

The OB-EN Chamber of Commerce is holding its last Arts & Antiques Walk Sundays of this season, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 1. Sea Change at Tilles
Sea Change, an underwater installation by Sally Shore and Barbara Karyo will open on Sept. 4 in the Atrium at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts. Taking advantage of the aquarium-like atmosphere of the glass Atrium, Sea Change will create art using vegetation and creatures created from some of the detritus found on our beaches today when a wastewater treatment plant in Westchester Co., NY, accidentally released millions of plastic water filtration bio-disks into Long Island Sound, and washed up on North Shore. The artists were among those who collected them as they cleaned up the beaches. Sally Shore, who works with fiber and Barbara Karyo who works in clay are creating the exhibit. Sally has created islands of plastic disks trailing rainbows of sensuous sea vegetation and Barbara has crocheted a variety of whimsical sea creatures to swim through them. The exhibit runs through July 2014. Reception date to be announced.

The Community Methodist Church of East Norwich will hold their annual Chicken Barbecue on Saturday, Sept. 7. This year it will be in honor of John DeBellis, the East Norwich Fire Chief who died recently.

Bluefish Tournament Deadline
The 28th Annual Town of Oyster Bay Bluefish Tournament, on Sunday, Sept. 15, includes hours of fishing followed by a tailgate party with hot dogs, beverages, snacks, raffles, awards and prizes. The all-day sporting event runs from 4:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The entrance fee for anglers of all ages, is $30 for Town residents and $40 for non-residents. Registration is limited to the first 350 boats, so sign up early at Oyster Bay Marine Supply, 294 South Street, Oyster Bay. You must be pre-registered. All those who register before September 10 will receive a tournament T-shirt. All contestants will automatically be entered in a special raffle, with great prizes including Mercury inflatable boats and Mercury outboards, rods, reels, ice chests, water skis, dinners for two and much more. The first place prize is $2,000 on down to the 15th which receives a $100 gift certificate. Raffle winners must be present to receive their prizes, which will be presented at the tailgate party scheduled for 3 p.m. The record catch is 19.05 pounds. Book Signing
A lecture and book signing by Salvatore J. LaGumina takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center, 20 Summit Street. As Italian immigrants and their descendants, moved to Long Island, they helped to build Long Island, whether as laborers or as contractors, such as the Castagnas. They brought their culinary traditions and opened markets, such as the still family-owned Iavarone Brothers Foods, and restaurants, including New Hyde Park’s Umberto’s. Join author Salvatore J. LaGumina to discover the remarkable contributions and vibrant culture of Italians and Italian Americans on Long Island. The lecture is free and open to the public. Arts Festival Weekend
The Oyster Bay – East Norwich Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the success of its Arts and Antique Walk held Sundays in July. “To finish off the season we are holding out first Oyster Bay Arts Festival on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. There is a rain date the next weekend, Sept. 28 and 29,” said Treasurer Michele Browner.

Food Pantry
The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St, Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community.
