An alleged rapist accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl walking passed his Elmont house to school five years ago has been extradited from India back to Long Island, authorities said.

A Nassau County court judge ordered Amit Singh held without bail Saturday on charges of first and second-degree rape, sexual abuse, endangering welfare of child and violating his probation on a 2007 cocaine possession conviction.

Prosecutors said the 32-year-old grabbed the victim off the street after trying to coax her into his Rosalind Avenue home, forced her inside the house where he raped her and then drove her to class at Sewanhaka High School at 10 a.m. on March 11, 2009.

The victim told a teacher and later positively identified Singh, then 27, in a photo array, but the suspect boarded a flight to India before DNA evidence linked him to the rape the following month, according to investigators.

Singh was indicted months later and INTERPOL issued a warrant for his arrest in 2011, when he was apprehended while trying to board a plane to Thailand, prosecutors said. He had been fighting extradition for the past two years, but Indian authorities agreed to extradite him earlier this month.

U.S. Marshals flew to India and brought Singh back to New York on Friday, when they turned him over to Special Victims Squad detectives.

He faces up to 25 years in prison and is due back in court Oct. 11.
