Recently, the Island Trees Memorial Middle School SADD (Students Against Destructive Decision) launched “Pie Wars”, a special fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Long Island (www.lls.org). Willing teachers volunteered to have their pictures posted on collection boxes placed throughout the school.
Over the course of two weeks, students placed donations in the collection boxes of the teachers they wanted to see get “pied.”
At the conclusion of the Homecoming Pep Rally on Oct. 10, the two teachers with the most donations, who chose to be pied, were announced. Two students were selected to “pie” the teachers in front of the entire school.
