You can make a difference on airplane noise. The following are some actions that can be taken regarding this situation.
1. Report the noise: If you don’t call, you don’t count. Report airplane and helicopter disturbances around JFK, LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty Airport (EWR), Teterboro (TEB) and Stewart International (SWF) Airports by calling 1-800-225-1071 or file an electronic noise complaint online at http://www.planenoise.com/panynj/daPRAbr9/ Without your voice, we have no voice. Please notify the FAA and Port Authority (PANYNJ) about unsafe and uncomfortable noise incidents over your home, school or workplace.
2. Urge the governor to pass legislation for environmental study: On May 20, the New York State Senate passed Bill S3841-2013 which requires “the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to conduct a noise and land compatibility survey as outlined under federal aviation regulations as well as biennial public hearings regarding aircraft noise issues.” The same bill, NYSA Bill A7697-2013 was similarly passed by the New York State Assembly. Please urge the governor to approve this legislation by:
a. Calling Governor Cuomo’s office at 518-474 8390
b. Writing to the Governor online via his website:
