Wantagh Robbery, Stabbing Suspects Charged

Two Hempstead men have been accused of slashing the face of a 7 Eleven clerk they were allegedly trying to rob in Wantagh over the weekend.

Nassau County police said Shamar Parker, 25, was armed with a knife and Elijah Coleman, 23, was armed with a bat when they confronted a 69-year-old man shaking out a rug in front of the store on Park Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday.

After the victim refused the suspects demands to enter the store, Parker allegedly stabbed the victim under his chin and slashed him across the face before both suspects fled the scene, police said.

Officers quickly apprehended Coleman and found Parker three hours later hiding under a bush, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of facial lacerations.

Parker and Coleman were each charged with attempted robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. They will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
