Christmas Fest

The Beacon Church in New Hyde Park will hold its Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 7. The party begins at 6 p.m., with a tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. For more information, visit www.visitbeacon.com. The church is located at 1045 Lakeville Road, south of Hillside Avenue.

• Boy Scout Troop 200 Of Williston Park meets every Monday between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at Willis Ave. and Winthrop St., Williston Park. Boys 11 to 17 are welcome to join.

• Irish American Society Social Gatherings every Monday at the Irish American Center, 297 Willis Ave., Mineola, from noon to 3 p.m. In the tradition and mission of the Irish American Society, we are here to make all welcome and be part of the local community. Bring lunch. Coffee and tea will be served. Play cards, board games or just sit and socialize. A film once a month. Ladies and gents welcome. Free to all. • Farmer’s Markets are held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come buy local produce, breads, pickles and other goods at the municipal parking lot on Jericho Turnpike just west of New Hyde Park Road, across from Village Hall. Rain or shine until November.

AARP Defensive Driving

Registration for this program opens at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. The class will be on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10. The new prices will be $20 for AARP members; $25 for non-members. Out of District residents will be put on a Wait List.

Senior Connections

On Monday, Dec. 9, from 1 – 3 p.m., Volunteer Ruth Kazdan provides information and referral services for seniors at the library.

Project Hope’s Resiliency Workshop

Monday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. Everyone has faced challenges in life:  job stresses, unemployment, serious illnesses, physical or emotional trauma, loss of a home – or loss of a loved one. It is normal to react to these stressors but it is most important that we do not let them overwhelm us but allow our resilience to triumph over them. Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Children must be pre-registered and accompanied by an adult.

Toys In The Attic

Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Grades 2 and up. Registration has begun for this program which combines science with toys; the participants will create a simple toy.

Deck The Halls

Register on Wednesday, Dec. 11; program will be on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m. Grades: K-1; holiday stories and crafts.

Mosaic Snowman Workshop

Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. for grades 2 and up. Registration has begun. Children will create a winter scene using faux gems, crystals and beautiful beads. Fee: $2
