After Hours Networking and Business Card Swap

On Dec. 19, the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will be holding its next after hours event at CaraCara Mexican Grill at 354 Main St. in Farmingdale. The event runs from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and includes a free raffle, complimentary appetizers, and happy hour pricing until 7 p.m.

Varsity Basketball [Home Game]

On Dec. 20, the Farmingdale High School Boy’s Varsity Basketball team will face-off against Syosset. Game begins at 5 p.m. inside the gymnasium at Farmingdale High School, located at 150 Lincoln Street.

South Farmingdale Fire Department Operaion Santa

Be on the lookout. On Saturday, Dec. 21, the South Farmingdale Fire Department will be out on its annual “Operation Santa” detail. Santa Claus will spend the day with members of the department, who will be providing him a lift through the South Farmingdale Fire District, before he returns home to the North Pole. Make sure to listen for the sounds of holiday muic and the horns from the rigs. Come out when Santa is you neighborhood for some special holiday treats and to wave Santa as he passes through South Farmingdale.

Christmas Cantata

On Dec. 22, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church at 407 Main Street will have a special Christmas Cantata during the 9:30 a.m. services. 

 

Brunch with Santa

On Dec. 22, the Library Cafe at 274 Main St., will be celebrating the holiday season with a very special guest. Santa Claus will be visiting the restaurant from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to hand out treats and take photos. To mark this special occasion, the Library Cafe will be serving a special brunch buffet. For $21.95 per adult and $10.95 per child, the sit-down buffet features an assortment of fresh fruit, french toast, pancakes, eggs benedict, home fries, pastries, scrambled eggs and all the fixings. The regular menu will also be available.

The Farmingdale School District will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1, 2014 for the Holiday recess

 

Board of Trustees Work Session

The Village of Farmingdale Board of Trustees will hold its second work session of the month at 7 p.m. on Dec. 23, at Village Hall, located at 361 Main Street.

Christmas Services

On Dec. 24, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church will hold is traditional service at 3:00 p.m., featuring carols and communion. Family candlelight service with carols will be held at 7:00 p.m. and a traditional candlelight service with carols at 10:30 p.m.

Flap-Jack Breakfast for Alex

On Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the American Legion Post 449 in Farmingdale will sponsor a flap-jack breakfast at the Airport Plaza Applebee’s. The event is being held to benefit the son of one of the Legion’s members, Alex, a former Farmingdale EMS, and recovering cancer survivor.  Tickets cost $13. Previously postponed due to inclement weather, the Farmingdale School District will be holding a mathematics workshop for parents of students in grades K-2. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8. the Weldon E. Howitt Middle School Library starting at 7 p.m.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its first general meeting of 2014, on Jan. 9, at Palmer’s American Grille at 123 Fulton St. Bring your business cards. All members present will enter into a drawing to win either “Featured Member of the Month” on the Chamber website, a Spotlight in the newsletter, or a banner or the Chamber’s website for one month.

Super Community Blood Drive 

FUMC is hosting a blood drive with New York Blood Center on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 4:45-9:15pm in Fellowship Hall.  All donors will be entered into a sweepstakes for one pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII ($2,500 value).
