A woman went into labor in a Great Neck parking lot on Christmas Eve and minutes later her fifth child was delivered by Nassau County Ambulance Technicians en route to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

Karen Hollander was in the parking lot of Bank of America on Middle Neck Road and called 911 when she experienced contractions. Officer Daniel Fliedner arrived within minutes and stayed with her until a Nassau County Ambulance arrived with Emergency Technicians Matthew Gordon and Jose Hernandez.

Within three minutes of entering the ambulance, baby Alexandra was delivered while in transit to North Shore University Hospital. County Executive Mangano commended Officer Fliedner and Emergency Medical Technicians Hernandez and Gordon for their quick response time and professionalism which ensured that Alexandra arrived here safely.
