You may have noticed that the Onderdonk House on Northern Blvd. recently got a noticeable improvement through a Service Project by Troop 71 Eagle Scout candidate Kevin Brady.
Just before and after Thanksgiving, Scouts installed weatherproof, permanent wood fencing to beautify the grassy edge of the property’s southern border with Northern Blvd.
At the direction and supervision of Brady – and in the balmy clear weather of the season – the Scouts dug holes, embedded fence posts in concrete and measured, cut and installed the various sections of the 80-foot span of fencing, sprucing up and nicely defining the outer edge of the land.
An Eagle Project is an opportunity for a Boy Scout applying for Scouting’s highest honor to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a service for the benefit of his community.
For his service project, Brady raised the funds and organized the endeavor himself to benefit the Onderdonk House, built in the 1830s, recognized as a Historic Landmark and operated by the Strathmore Association.
