Parent’s Math Workshop [K-2]
Previously postponed due to inclement weather, the Farmingdale School District will be holding a mathematics workshop for parents of students in grades K-2. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8. the Weldon E. Howitt Middle School Library starting at 7 p.m.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting
The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce will hold its first general meeting of 2014, on Jan. 9, at Palmer’s American Grille at 123 Fulton St. Bring your business cards. All members present will enter into a drawing to win either “Featured Member of the Month” on the Chamber website, a Spotlight in the newsletter, or a banner or the Chamber’s website for one month.

New York City Draft Riots
The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society will host a program on the New York City Draft Riots of the Civil War, on Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., inside the Farmingdale Public Library, located at 116 Merritts Rd.
Join us for a presentation from well-known author and scholar Barnet Schecter, as he reflects on a period of four days in the history of New York City that had federal troops called-in to control the violence.

Super Community Blood Drive
FUMC is hosting a blood drive with New York Blood Center on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 4:45-9:15pm in Fellowship Hall. All donors will be entered into a sweepstakes for one pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLVIII ($2,500 value). There is a critical blood shortage in Jan. due to school closings and inclement weather. Blood Drive
Come give blood. On Jan. 21, the Woodward Parkway Elementary School will be hosting a blood drive from 3:30 – 9 p.m. Juice and cookies will be provided.
