A West Babylon man was arrested in Woodbury on Jan. 23 for burglaries that occurred in South Farmingdale.
Police say Robert David Avena, 19, used a brick to break the rear sliding glass door of a home located on Radcliff Avenue on Jan. 14, then stole a pocketbook and watch from inside.
After being unable to sell the items, he allegedly disposed of them in a nearby pond.
On Jan. 16, police say Avena entered a Heisser Place residence and took a laptop and iPod, then sold the items to a pawn shop.
A subsequent investigation by police led to the recovery of the items and the arrest of Avena who surrendered at the Second Precinct. The proceeds from the first burglary were not recovered.
Avena is charged with two counts of burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
