Levittown PTA Council

On Jan. 29, the Levittown PTA Council will host an evening with New York State Deputy Commissioner of Education Ken Slentz. The event is being held at 7 p.m. inside the auditorium at Wisdom Lane Middle School, located at 120 Center Lane, where Slentz will discuss the Common Core Learning Standards and other issues in Education. 

There will also be a question and answer session following the presentation, however, only questions submitted in advance will be considered. To submit a question e-mail levittowncouncilptas14@gmail.com along with name, address and phone number.

Business Honor Society 

On Jan. 30, MacArthur High School will hold its Business Honor Society induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Souper Bowl of Caring 

Charitable KIDZ with St. Bernard’s Catholic Church will collect canned food donations after all masses, from Feb. 1 through Feb. 3, as part of the Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser event, held across the nation on the weekend of the NFL Super Bowl.

Levittown Board of Education Meeting

The next public meeting of the Levittown Board of Education will convene at 7:30 p.m., on Feb. 5, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, located at 150 Abbey Lane.

Girl Scout Brownie Night

Girl Scouts in the Island Trees School District will be holding Brownie Night on Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at Stokes Elementary, located at 101 Owl Place in Levittown. For more information on the event call 516-520-2103. 

 

Scout Shabbat

Temple B’nai Torah, located at 2900 Jerusalem Avenue and Oakfield Avenue in Wantagh, will be holding its annual Boy and Girl Scout Family Shabbat on Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Scouts are invited to attend in uniform with friends and family.  During the event, members of the clergy will give a special blessing to the scouts.

Rosie O’Donnell at Governor’s

Actress/Author/Comedian Rosie O’Donnell will be performing two shows a night, on Feb. 8 and 9, at Governor’s Comedy Club, located at 90 Division Ave. in Levittown. Tickets range from $40 – $70, and admission is 18 and up. Visit tickets.govs.com for more details on show times.

13th Annual Winter Festival

On Feb. 15, enjoy a day of crafts, activities, magic and entertainment, at the Levittown Community Council’s 13th annual Winter Festival. The event will be held at Levittown Hall, located at 201 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, and food and beverages will be available at a minimal cost. There will also be free hourly raffle drawings and donation bins for anyone looking to give non-perishable food or toiletries for local food pantries. Levittown Community Council Meeting

At the Feb. 24 meeting of the Levittown Community Council, special guest Martha Kinney will discuss “A Soldier’s Life in the first World War.” The meeting will be held at the Levittown Public Library, located at 1 Bluegrass Lane, at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and are free of charge.

Governor’s Open Mic

On Friday, Feb. 26, join host Lori Palminteri for open mic night at Governor’s of Levittown. Tickets are $12 and are availabLe online. Admission is 18 and up. Doors open at 6 p.m

MacArthur Winter Concert

The Levittown Public Schools invite parents to MacArthur High School, on Feb. 27, for its Winter Concert. Students will perform at 7:30 p.m. sharpe inside the high school auditorium. 

 

Senior Fashion Show

Island Trees High School seniors will host a fashion show, on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. inside the high school, located at 59 Straight Lane in Levittown.
