Chamber of Commerce

On Feb. 19, the Levittown Chamber of Commerce will gather at the “YES” Community Counseling Center’s offices, located at 152 Center Lane in Levittown at 12:30 p.m. 

 

Thursday, February 20

All Star Comedy

On Feb. 20, Governor’s of Levittown will host a night of all-star comics from around Long Island and the country. Tickets are $14 and admission is 18 and over. 

 

Friday, February 21

Levittown American Legion The next meeting of the Levittown American Legion Post No. 1711 will be held on Feb. 21, at 8 p.m., inside the American Legion Hall, located at 3123 N. Jerusalem Rd. in Levittown. 

 

Monday, February 24

Levittown Community Council

At the Feb. 24 meeting of the Levittown Community Council, special-guest speaker Martha Kinney will discuss “A Soldier’s Life in the first World War.” The meeting will be held at the Levittown Public Library, located at 1 Bluegrass Lane, at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and are free of charge.

The next meeting of the Island Trees Public Library Board of Trustees will convene on Feb. 25, at the Karopczyc School, located at 74 Farmedge Road. For more information call 516-520-2100

 

South Shore Historic Houses 

On Feb. 25, the Wantagh Preservation Society will have guest-speaker Christopher Collora, author of Long Island Historic Houses of the South Shore, come to the Wantagh Public Library, located at 3285 Park Ave., for a presentation on communities along the Great South Bay.

 

Friday, February 26

Governor’s Open Mic

On Friday, Feb. 26, join host Lori Palminteri for open mic night at Governor’s of Levittown. Tickets are $12 and are availabe online. Admission is 18 and up. Doors open at 6 p.m 

 

Anyone looking to participate call Governors at 516-731-3358. Comics get seven minutes of stage time and are required to bring six paying customers. Acts should be kept relatively clean and original. 

 

Levittown Schools Budget Meeting

The Levittown Public School Board of Education will hold its second budget meeting on Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m., at the Levittown Memorial Education Center.

MacArthur Winter Concert

The Levittown Public Schools invite parents to MacArthur High School, on Feb. 27, for its Winter Concert. Students will perform at 7:30 p.m. sharpe inside the high school auditorium. 

 

Senior Fashion Show

Island Trees High School seniors will host a fashion show, on Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. inside the high school, located at 59 Straight Lane in Levittown. For more information call 516-520-2136.

The next meeting of the Island Trees Public Library Board of Trustees will be held on Feb. 28, at 8 p.m.

 

Island Trees Talent Show (Grades 7 and 8)

 

On Feb. 28, at 2:45 p.m., Island Trees Memorial Middle School will hold its 7th and 8th grade talent show.

 

Saturday, March 1

Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry 

Jessy Davidson, a junior at MacArthur High School will be holding a scholarship blood drive and bone marrow registry drive on March 1 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the John Theissen Children’s Foundation, located at 1881 Wantagh Ave. in Wantagh. Davidson is hoping to earn a small college scholarship through the New York Blood Center Bloodstock Scholarship Program. 

 

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and more than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day. Blood supplies are at a severe shortage due to the winter storms and cancellations of many blood drives. Every donation counts when it comes to saving lives. On March 2, local elementary school students participating in this year’s Long Island String Festival Association’s elementary concert, will take the stage at Uniondale Senior High School, located at 933 Goodrich Street in Uniondale, for a performance at 1 p.m.

The next meeting of the Salk Middle School/MacArthur High School PTSA will be held on March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Salk Middle School. 

 

Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

The next meeting of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will be held on March 3, from 8-10 a.m., at the Astoria Federal Savings Bank, located at 3105 Hempstead Tpke.

Cub Scout Round Up

Parents of boys in first – fifth grades who are interested in joining the Cub Scouts at Temple B’nai Torah, Wantagh, should contact Jeff Cohen at 516-205-1589.
