Wesley Owen St. John passed away on Feb. 13, 2014. Born May 3, 1928 in Los Angeles, Cali., Wesley would spend the majority of his life in New York, later becoming a long-time resident of Farmingdale.
A World War II Veteran, St. John became an officer in the Merchant Marines.
In addition to his service, his love of reading and his love of the sea, he turned to acting. As a member of Actors Equity he spent many years performing in professional theaters across the country and later turned his passion to writing. He would go on to work for the Long Island Railroad and later retired.
St. John was an honorary member of the Dramatists Guild and member of Actors Studio. A playwright and poet, he had numerous works performed in different community, Off Broadway and Off Off Broadway theaters. Along the way he won many awards for his
work.
His last play “The Acting Lesson” was performed recently this past fall in New York City. In his later years his love for the art turned to a passion for painting.
Wesley is survived by his “beautiful bride” Jane, his doggie Shakespeare, daughter Pam and husband Bob, his beautiful grandchildren Lindsay, Christine and husband Charlie, great grandchildren Hanna and Ava, Niece and Nephew Betsy and Patrick, Sister in law Patricia, and his oldest and dearest friend George Riddle.
