Youth Leadership Feed The Hungry

youthChrist Episcopal Church, The Community Reformed Church and The Congregational Church recently hosted their second annual Youth Leadership Lab. This event is geared to all youth, grades 6-12, and is an all-day interactive experience focusing on leadership. Youth explore the importance of being a leader in their peer groups, at church, at school, in their faith and in their daily lives, understanding that they can make a positive difference in the world, no matter their age.

This year’s Youth Leadership Lab was entitled The Reality of Hunger, and focused on the important and very real issue of hunger in America and how the community can make a positive and significant impact, regardless of age. The session ran from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. at The Congregational Church, 1845 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, and included interactive workshops, creative activities, and a documentary film about food insecurity in the U.S. called A Place at the Table.

In addition, there was a service project creating over 500 lunches for The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network).

Over 30 young people representing Christ Episcopal Church, Church of Our Savior Lutheran, The Community Reformed Church, The Congregational Church, and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church attended.
