Award-winning Master Photographer Susann Gude will exhibit her work in the gallery at the Garden City Public Library through March 30.
Native Long Islander Susann Gude is a certified professional photographer associated with Professional Photographers of America. She lived in California, traveled abroad and settled in Bellport/Brookhaven area. With 40 years experience as a photographer, Gude’s studio has been successful for more than 28 years. She has devoted herself to creating timeless portraits of life that reflect our dreams and hopes, the lives we live, and our futures, all captured in one single moment…forever lasting.
Gude’s specialty is photographing children. Equally spectacular are her works of families set on beautiful locations with nature in full bloom. Many of her portraits and fine art images are created into virtual paintings using Photoshop and Corel Painter. She is currently an adjunct professor of photography at Farmingdale State College in addition to operating her portrait/Event photography studio. As a professional master photographer, Gude belongs to many societies and associations including: Professional Photographers of Greater New York Area; Professional Photographers State of New York; Professional Photographers Association of New England, and more. Gude has won awards from a number of organizations include 14 General Collection Professional Photographers of America, National Awards and 3 New Professional Photographers State Court of Honor Awards.

Dinner & A Movie: Food Stamped
Food Stamped is an informative and humorous documentary following a couple as they attempt to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on a food stamp budget. Discussion led by Jon Stepanian of Long Island Food Not Bombs. Films on sustainable living are showing on Thursday evenings from March 6 through April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Garden City Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island on 38 Old Country Rd. Each film is followed by a discussion led by a local solutions expert. Tickets are $15 per night ($12 /ticket for ages 55+ and students with ID). This includes the movie, dinner and discussion. Sweet to Lick of Williston Park, a vegan bakery, is providing a soup dinner. Community Connections
Every day, people in the community are helping to make our lives easier. Each week on Wednesday and Friday, the Long Island Children’s Museum will be exploring the lives and daily routines of a different community helper. Children will build on their vocabulary as they are introduced to job specific words through songs and activities. Each class will include a hands-on, themed activity to reinforce information shared during class. Ages: 3 to 5. St. Patrick’s Day Craft With Liane
Visit the library and do a St. Patrick’s Day Craft with Liane Mallon. This program will be held at 1 p.m. for children in Grades K-2 and at 2:15 p.m. for children in Grades 3-5. Registration is required and began Monday, Feb. 24 at 9:30 a.m. on Eventkeeper. Each child needs his or her own library card to register online. You must do a separate registration for each child you wish to attend the program. Please arrive promptly. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list.

Free Breast Cancer Support Groups
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer program is offering new support groups. There is no cost for any group; however pre-registration is required. Additional groups are formed upon request, including groups for men with breast cancer and family members. All groups meet at Adelphi University School of Social Work in Garden City. •Support group for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer will meet weekly for eight weeks from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The A.T. Stewart Exchange Consignment Shop at 109 Eleventh St. in Garden City is looking for furn
iture to add to its inventory. The shop can use cocktail tables, end tables, consoles, chairs of all types, dressers, dining room tables, breakfronts, servers, secretaries, mirrors, etc….it’s all in demand. If you have a particularly large piece, take a picture and show it to Maryann Caterino at the shop (516-746-8900). Consignees are paid 50 percent of the selling price. The shop is conveniently located on the lower level of The Garden City Historical Society Museum. All proceeds from the A.T. Stewart Consignment Shop go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the Garden City Historical Society Museum.
