On Tuesday, March 18, incumbent village trustees James Rhatigan and Kevin Fitzgerald, both members of the Floral Park Citizens’ Party, were re-elected in an uncontested election year. Rhatigan earned 318 votes to secure another two years as trustee. Fitzgerald earned 317 votes to secure his two-year term as trustee.

“It is truly an honor and privilege to again be given the opportunity to serve the residents and merchants of the fine village of Floral Park,” Rhatigan told Floral Park Dispatch. “I know I speak for the entire village board as I recommit myself to provide the most thoughtful and diligent service that I am able to give for the betterment of our community.”

As a member of Floral Park’s board of trustees, Rhatigan serves as deputy mayor and liaison to the police department, conservation society and the emergency management committee. He also previously served the village as a commissioner of the fire and recreation departments, and of the library, as well as liaison to the beautification committee, Heritage Park committee, and the Citizens with Disabilities committee.

“I would like to thank the residents for their support last Tuesday [March 18] in re-electing both James Rhatigan and myself,” said Fitzgerald. “Over the past three years in serving as trustee I have gained a tremendous amount of experience and continue to look forward to serving my fellow neighbors in keeping Floral Park a thriving community.”

During his tenure on the village board, Fitzgerald has served as library and park commissioner, liaison to 4 Village Studios, liaison to the Hillcrest Civic Association and to the Beautification Committee.
