Thirteen Schreiber High School students recently participated in the Make a Difference Training Program sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. The national peer-training program focuses on combating bias and promoting understanding in schools across the country.
The program included three days of student training, designed to facilitate the support and commitment of the entire school community to promote positive social change.
During the training, students learned strategies on how to confront bias and bullying, developed communication and facilitation skills, and participated in interactive activities. Afterward, they worked with a school-based peer training coordinator who manages the program’s implementation throughout the academic year.
Through this experience, peer trainers develop into role models who can lead workshops that address prejudice while creating intergroup dialogue, understanding and respect. All students who complete the training are eligible to apply for the Anti-Defamation League’s paid seven-week summer internship program.
