Do you have a favorite healthy recipe that kids love? You have until April 23 to submit it to the Keeping Kids Healthy Cook Off. And you might win an iPad.
Cohen Children’s Medical Center and Kohl’s Cares are teaming up for the Keeping Kids Healthy Top Chef Cook Off in May. The goal is to inspire families to develop nutritious and kid-friendly recipes to promote healthy eating habits.
Recipes will be accepted until April 23. Five semifinalists from each category will be chosen and notified on April 28, and take part in a cook-off at the Cohen center on May 10, at 10 a.m. Top Chef Danny Gagnon will be on hand to assist with judging.
Recipes can be entered at www.kohlshealthykidsny.com by a parent or legal guardian for chefs between the ages of 5-17.
There is a maximum of two children per entry. The recipes, submitted via the website’s recipe contest tab, should include a photo of the dish and should fall into one of three categories: appetizers/side dishes; entrees; and desserts/snacks.
One winner will be selected from each category and those three will compete to determine who walks away with the grand prize, an iPad. The two runners-up will also receive prizes.
Contestants will bring their own ingredients to the cook-off; Cohen Children’s Medical Center will provide whatever cooking apparatus is needed. Preparation and cooking time should not exceed 90 minutes.
