Island Trees Junior Honor Society

Recently the National Junior Honor Society of Island Trees Memorial Middle School became involved in working with Liam’s Lighthouse Foundation, a group that is dedicated to advancing research, awareness, and support for histiocytosis.  Mr. Chris McGowan, a sixth grade teacher at ITMMS, brought attention to this cause because his close friend’s daughter suffers from histiocytosis, a blood a disease that causes organ damage and the formation of tumors.  After learning about histiocytosis, the members of the National Junior Honor Society became passionate about the mission, raised funds, and donated $250.00 to Liam’s Lighthouse Foundation.  Thank you to the members of the Memorial Middle School National Junior Honor Society, Mr. McGowan, Mrs. Nieves, and Mrs. Harouche for coordinating this important endeavor.
