LI Bands To Aid Autistic Kids

bandLong Island-based tribute bands The Liverpool Shuffle, Captain Jack, and Beginnings will strike a chord for Long Island children with autism while performing popular hits of The Beatles, Billy Joel and Chicago, respectively, during The Mosaic Foundation for Autism’s Super Star Tribute Band Concert for Autism.

Spearheaded by Port Washington’s Lauretta Murdock, a mother of two sons with autism who is founder of both The Mosaic Foundation for Autism and The Mosaic School for Autism, this charitable musical show will be held Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Brookside School, 1260 Meadowbrook Rd. in North Merrick.

“It is so uplifting to see these three popular tribute bands known for celebrating our musical greats performing together to lend support for our mission in raising autism awareness,” says Murdock. “It is our hope that people will attend this ‘Super Star Tribute Band Concert’ where they will not only have the opportunity to enjoy a fun night of music but also extend some love and support for children with autism.”

Captain Jack “is excited to participate in this charitable event to help support The Mosaic Foundation for Autism mission in promoting more awareness about autism and raising funds to support the futures of individuals with autism,” said band leader and drummer Sal DiMarco. “We’re delighted to use the popularity of Billy Joel’s music as a means of generating more autism awareness and support for today’s autism community.”

Tickets for the show, produced by Friend Entertainment USA, are $35. Anyone unable to attend can still support this cause by purchasing a ticket for an individual with development disabilities to attend in their place by contacting 516-765-3696.

Proceeds will benefit The Mosaic Foundation for Autism, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of autism and its challenges, as well as other local autism groups. For further information or to purchase tickets, call 516-765-3696.
