Gerard DeAngelis of Port Washington (next to Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio) was among the Eagle Scouts honored by local dignitaries, including Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos (l.) for their accomplishments as scouts.
DeAngelis reached the rank of Eagle Scout at age 13, on May 13, 2013. His project was designing, building and installing an information kiosk and bench for the new Bee Exhibit at the Sands Point Preserve.
DeAngelis asked local businesses for donations to pay for the materials necessary for the project. He also had to ask a local business for warehouse space, where he could build the kiosk and bench. The result was a welcome addition to Sands Point’s outdoor offerings.
