A 52-year-old motorcyclist died Friday night in Farmingdale after colliding with an SUV, Nassau County police said.
The man, who has yet to be identified, was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson west on Hempstead Turnpike just before 9 p.m. when the crash occurred. Police said a 1998 GMC Yukon driving in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn when the motorcycle collided with the vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital about an hour later, police said.
The Yukon was released from the scene after passing a break and safety inspection. The motorcycle was impounded for safety checks, police said.
The 48-year-old man driving the Yukon was not injured.
Police said there appears to be no criminality at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
