East Woods School sent 37 students from first through eighth grade to the local New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festivals. NYSSMA holds adjudication festivals around New York State every spring.
These East Woods students played a range of instruments, including trumpet, violin, piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, cello, and the drums. The school also had students participate in voice performances.
Thirty of the 37 students were awarded the highest possible “Outstanding” rating. Of these 30 students, six were awarded perfect scores. The other seven received an “Excellent” rating, which is the second highest rating.
The vibrant music and arts program at East Woods School teaches students to be confident and poised on stage and in life, and to have a deep appreciation of the arts.
This is evident in the many musical and stage performances the students put on every year, from the youngest students to the eighth-graders.
With classes across all genres of art—musical, performing, visual and industrial—East Woods School is expanding the academic experience of every student.
The interdisciplinary curriculum at East Woods allows students to learn through discovery and hands-on experiences.
