An accused hit-and-run driver was arrested hours after allegedly running over and killing a crash victim and fleeing the scene in East Northport on Thursday, Suffolk County police said.
Ryan Bales was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal incident.
Police said the 24-year-old suspect struck Alexander Zydel, 20, who had been lying in Soundview Avenue after being ejected from Ford Explorer that he crashed into a tree shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Zydel was taken to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Both he and were from East Northport.
Bales will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
