SCHOOLPAGE3In U.S. News & World Report’s annual high school rankings, Jericho High School ranked number 13 in New York State, number 1 on Long Island and number 71 nationally. Syosset Senior High School ranked number 32 in New York State, 8 on Long Island and 158 nationally.

The rankings include data on more than 19,400 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

Both schools also topped the NYS Education Department’s recent release of district-by-district data on Long Island high school seniors in the Class of 2013. In Jericho, 99.7 percent of students earned a regents diploma, 88.2 earned an advanced diploma, 2.8 percent went on to a 2-year-college, and 92.1 percent went on to a 4-year college. In Syosset, 98.1 percent of students earned a regents diploma, 85.3 percent earned an advanced diploma, 5 percent went on to a 2-year college and 92.9 percent went on to a four-year college.
