Students from all 10 schools in the Syosset Central School District joined Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ronald Friedman and incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Thomas Rogers for an annual Superintendent’s Student Cabinet meeting on May 16. Each elementary school was represented by one student, with two students participating from each middle school and three from Syosset High School.
Dr. Friedman and Dr. Rogers spent the morning discussing various important topics in education and student life with the students, ranging from the pros and cons of the Common Core Learning Standards, student engagement and transitioning between schools, to college preparedness, healthy food choices in the cafeteria and the breadth of opportunity available to students in the district. The students demonstrated a strong sense of community and respect for one another across all age groups.
