Did you know that the poppies our American Legion Post 265 veterans and auxiliary members offer you are handmade by veterans? Veterans of our armed forces make each nine-piece poppy in auxiliary-sponsored poppy shops. These shops supplement physical and psychological therapy needed for hospitalized and disabled veterans. The auxiliary provides the materials and the volunteers to facilitate the program. This year, the poppies have “bloomed” beautifully.
Particularly during the month of May, accept and wear with gratitude the familiar handcrafted poppies offered to you. Know that, though the poppies are not sold, any contribution you make is passed directly from our auxiliary unit to help the veterans at our Northport Hospital facility. Your generosity enables us to meet their needs that are not met through government programs. This is the facility with which our unit is charged.
