Dalers Win One For Departed Classmates

In the wake of tragedy, the Farmingdale Daler’s Varsity Boys Lacrosse team carried the community on its backs to defeat Port Washington in a blowout 12-6 victory.

A much needed victory for a community still grieving, Farmingdale had united under a common slogan—“Daler Strong”—the team put away twice as many goals to beat the No.4 seeded Port Washington Vikings.

Dalers’ top-scorer Dylan Fitzgerald would give Farmingdale the advantage, putting away four goals in the game. Assisting Fitzgerald on the offensive, were sophomore midfielder Tom McPartland, who had three goals and one assist, and senior midfielder Tom Kennedy had two goals and three assists in the game. The Dalers’ Chris Brown and Alex Schelhorn also got on the board with two-points apiece.

With time winding down, fans cheered on the No. 5 seeded Dalers to secure a sixth straight win since they last faced the Vikings, in April, losing 9-8.

The Dalers will now head off to the Nassau Class A semifinals against rival Massapequa.
