Buckley Country Day School second, third, and fourth graders participated in the American Heart Association’s Jump Rope for Heart event for the 31st consecutive year and raised their most money ever for a single year.
Jump Rope for Heart is a nationwide fundraising program that promotes physical activity, heart-healthy living, and community service to children. The event provided an opportunity for Buckley students to learn about heart health while raising money to benefit medical research.
The children jumped rope individually and as a team for 60 minutes during their physical education classes. They showed off their rope jumping skills by performing many intricate jumping patterns including the skier, toe touch, and side straddle.
There were several contests to challenge the jumpers, such as who could jump the longest without stopping.
As in the past, the event was a great success. The students were able to raise a record-breaking $7,300, which brings the overall total to a $250,000 since 1983.
