The Locust Valley Garden Club recently awarded two $1,000 scholarships to horticulture students at Farmingdale State College. The award ceremony was held at the Student Center Grand Ballroom at the college under the direction of Dr. Richard Iversen, the scholarship committee chairman.
The Kathy Pufahl Scholarship, in memory of the prominent founder of the innovative nursery, Beds and Borders, was awarded to Georgie Starkie. Jessica van Bladel was the recipient of the Madeline M. Sorrenti Scholarship, named after the late vice president of the LVGC. Janet Doctors, president of the club, and Susan Caravello, LVGC chair, presented both awards.
