During a recent meeting of the Manhasset Port Washington Kiwanis club, Anthony Merendino, Director Kam Kiwanis, spoke to members about Kamp Kiwanis and sending children to Kamp. The camp, located in Rome, New York, has had recent renovations including a new library and two new buildings. The program is designed to mainstream all children including those with special needs. It is non-competitive with emphasis on group and team building. No activity is forced but all are encouraged. Fun is emphasized at all times. The camp host 145 children per week.
Swimming, boating, fishing, sports, arts and crafts, hikes, games, campfires, skits, nature walks and an opportunity to meet and interact with many other kampers are all part of each week’s activities.
Kiwanis International Club of Manhasset and Port Washington sends several children to camp at a cost of $600 per child.
