Letter: Letter For Our Fathers

The children living in the communities along the South Shore of Long Island are very fortunate to grow up here. With beautiful parks, fun-filled youth activities, and terrific schools that prepare students for a lifetime of success, children growing up enjoy a quality of life that makes their childhood special.

However, it would not be possible if not for the extraordinary sacrifices made by parents on behalf of their children, so as Father’s Day approaches, I’d like to extend best wishes to all the fathers in our communities.

Many of the things that children enjoy wouldn’t happen without the efforts of parents. Whether it’s volunteering to coach a team, helping out with a school project that’s due the next morning, working overtime to pay for an extra-curricular

activity, or the countless other ways that fathers make their children’s lives better, they are owed a great debt of gratitude. It doesn’t begin to make up for all they do, but nevertheless, I would like to extend my best wishes to all dads and I hope they enjoy the day.

Personally, on behalf of my siblings Joanna and Nicholas, I’d like to wish my dad, John, a Happy Father’s Day and thank him for all he did for us. Recently, I just became a father myself, and I hope I can be as good at the job as my father is.

Thanks Dad and thanks to all fathers for all they do to make our area special.
