The Town of Oyster Bay is reminding residents that there are some important rules to remember when it comes to putting out the garbage.
“In order to protect the suburban aesthetic of our beautiful Town, the Town of Oyster Bay has in place several ordinances regarding the placement and collection of garbage,” Oyster Bay Town Councilman Chris J. Coschignano said. “If residents follow these simple stipulations, this is something we could all benefit from.”
Regulations the Town has in place include garbage containers being placed at the curb, not in the roadway, and restrictions to the size of the container used. Residents must make sure to use containers that do not exceed 32 gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds.
Additionally, the Town’s ordinance stipulates that garbage may be placed at the curbside only after 5 p.m. the night before a scheduled collection and empty containers must be removed from the curb line by 8 p.m. on the day of collection.
Residents who have questions about Town sanitation can call 516-677-5848. Residents who reside in villages, or who have private sanitation, should contact their carter.
