Butterflies & Insects
Sagamore Hill National Historic Park presents Butterflies & Insects at 1 p.m. What would our world be like without insects? Not as pleasant as one might think. Discover the unique role they play in the ecosystem, learn why butterflies and other insects are important pollinators, and identify some common meadow insects. Hands-on activities and a special craft for children will also be offered.

Art Opening
Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery of Oyster Bay at 4 Audrey Ave. will be exhibiting original art by Schery Markee Sullivan from Aug. 23 to Sept. 6. The exhibition is a glimpse into the artist’s soul through watercolors, mixed media, acrylics and oil paintings. The 10th Annual Runner’s Edge-Tobay Junior Triathlon takes place on Aug. 24 starting at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park. The run is for youngsters 8 to 13. Historic Church Service And Tour
Brookville Reformed Church is hosting a trip to Marble Collegiate Church, Fifth Avenue at 29th Street on Sunday, Aug. 24. Pews will be reserved for those attending the 11 a.m. service, followed by a private tour. This New York City landmark, which was transformed into one of the world’s great churches by pastor Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, is as famous for its colorful history as it for its white marble construction, soaring, open interior, cantilevered balconies and Tiffany stained-glass windows. Join for the service, private tour and lunch (optional). Transportation is available, if requested in advance. Lego Club

Cruise Night held weekly on Audrey Avenue now through Sept. 30. The fee is $5 per vehicle and visitors are free. The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community.
