New teachers throughout the Hicksville Union Free School District were welcomed in an orientation at the district’s administration building prior to the start of the 2014-15 school year.
During the program, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Marianne Litzman and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessments Susan Guiliano spoke to the enthusiastic new teachers about the most effective ways to have an impact on students and led discussions about responsibilities, expectations and basic elements of instruction. The teachers also worked on group activities.
Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Brian K. Heyward and Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carl Bonuso also attended the orientation. Dr. Bonuso said he was thrilled for the start of the school year and welcomed all of the new teachers to the district.
“I’m excited to have all of you on board,” Dr. Bonuso said. “And I wish you nothing but the best of luck.”
