Joint Networking Event

Share your ideas, promote your business and expand your network. On Sept. 10, mix and mingle with business professionals from the Farmingdale, Levittown, and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, from 6-9 p.m. at Palmer’s American Grille, 123 Fulton St. in Farmingdale. The event is limited to Chamber of Commerce members only. Cost is $20 per person to attend, and includes buffet dining and a free raffle ticket.  

Thursday, Sept. 11

September 11th Anniversary 

On Sept. 11, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. in Farmingdale, will be open to the community, from 3-7 p.m. for quiet reflection and prayer to mark the thirteenth anniversary of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. Everyone is welcome.

Day of Remembrance

On Sept. 11, join the Farmingdale Community Summit at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Rd. at 6 p.m., and/or the South Farmingdale Fire Department, 819 Main St., at 7:15 p.m., for a ceremony to commemorate the lives lost on that tragic day. 

 

Zoning Board

The next meeting of the Farmingdale Zoning Board will be held at 8 p.m., on Sept. 11, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

Saturday, Sept. 13

Downtown Music Festival

Groove on over to Main Street in Farmingdale, on Sept. 13 and 14, for two days of music on three stages around the village. 

The Movin’ Out Band will headline the first night of the festival with a performance on the Main Stage from 8-9:30 p.m. Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals will close off the second night of the festival 6-7:30 p.m. 

 

WWE Superstar Mick Foley

On Sept. 13, Frankie’s Eastside Pizzeria, at 313 Main St. in Farmingdale, will have special guest WWE Superstar Mick Foley, aka Mankind, drop by for signings, pictures, memorabilia and more. VIP Tickets cost $50. For more details call 516-756-2753.  

 

Hawks Parade

On Sept. 13, during the festivities downtown, the Farmingdale Hawks football team will hold its annual parade. The parade will kick off at 5:30 p.m. from the parking lot in front of the Howitt Middle School.

Sunday, Sept. 14

Soccer Clinic 

On Sept. 14, the Farmingdale State College Women’s Soccer program will host a 1-day College ID Clinic, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Nold Hall Athletic Complex on campus. 

 

The clinic is open to girls in grades 8-12 and provides prospective student athletes with the opportunity to train and play amongst collegiate coaches in a college environment. Cost is $65 and includes lunch and a t-shirt.

Board of Trustees Work Session

The next public work session of the Village of Farmingdale Board of Trustees will be held at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale

Master Plan Committee

The next meeting of the Downtown Master Plan Implementation Committee will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale.

Board of Education

The next meeting of the Farmingdale School District Board of Education will be held on Sept. 17, at 8 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 18

A Taste of the Town 

On Sept. 18, join St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 145 Prospect St., from 6-9 p.m., for the seventh annual Taste of the Town event. Costs $35 per person and

Car Free Day Rally

To prepare for the observance of Car Free Day—an international event encouraging drivers leave their vehicles home for the day—SUNY Farmingdale State College plans to host an Island-wide rally, on Sept. 18, to promote the use of commuting alternatives such as trains, buses, carpooling, biking and walking. 

 

Organized by a broad-based group of Long Island leaders from major employers, business, civic and environmental groups, universities and municipalities, Car Free Day participants are eligible to win raffle prizes such as commuter bikes, gift cards, theater tickets and more.
